Legionella Risk Assessment

Legionella pnemophilia is a gram-negative, rod-shaped bacteria which is common to aquatic atmospheres- both natural water systems and engineered structures such as cooling towers, evaporative condensers, hot and cold-water systems etc. These bacteria are responsible for causing infectious diseases ranging from mild Pontiac fever to severe pneumonia-like Legionnaires’ disease.

Legionella Risk Assessments are inevitable to ensure that everyone is kept away from the risks associated with Legionella bacteria. Regular risk assessments carried out by our expert team of consultants helps organisations reduce the chances of bacterial infection and associated outbreak of diseases. The process of Legionella risk assessment will involve a detailed study of all the water systems including but not limited to the potable water system, water storage tanks, cooling towers, swimming pools, water features, irrigation system, etc. to identify the site-specific risk. Water samples collected from critical high-risk locations inside your premises will undergo bacteriological analysis as well as Legionella detection and enumeration in a well-equipped laboratory. The test results will be communicated through a comprehensive Risk Assessment Report which also includes management protocols and action plans to be kept in place in case of emergency.

We work according to Dubai Municipality’s Technical Guidelines for Legionella Control in Water Systems DM-HSD- GU44-LCWS2 and OSHAD-SF CoP 12.0; ensuring allocation of management responsibilities and proper training of key personnel. We strictly follow HSE’s approved code of practice L8 for control of Legionella bacteria in water systems for prevention of Legionnaires disease. DM-HSD- GU44-LCWS2 Technical guideline from Dubai Municipality and OSHAD-SF CoP 12.0 The applied code aims at prevention and control from the risk of exposure to Legionella bacteria.
