MODULE 1: INTRODUCTION TO GAS TESTING

  • Recognizing Confined Spaces

MODULE 2: HAZARDS OF GASES IN THE WORKPLACE

  • Common hazardous gases in industrial settings
  • Toxic, flammable, and oxygen-deficient atmospheres
  • Health effects of gas exposure
  • The acceptable levels of flammable gases

The aim of the authorized gas tester training is to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding and practical proficiency in performing clearance measurements prior to commencing confined space entry procedures and gas testing.

QUALIFICATION

Successful completion of the training will result in the award of Authorized Gas Tester training certificate

  • Personnel required to work in confined spaces
  • Health & safety worker representatives
  • Managers/ Supervisors/ Individuals responsible for teams of employees who requires understanding of confined space activities

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

  • Educating workers on safe practices while working in confined spaces
  • Recognize different types of hazardous gases
  • Understand the health risks associated with gas exposure
  • Learn the principles of gas testing and measurement
  • Understand ventilation requirements and control measures
  • Understand the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in hazardous environments

MODULE 3: GAS TESTING PROCEDURES

  • Safe methods of sampling and testing gas levels
  • Calibration, bump testing, and maintenance of detectors
  • Pre-entry testing and continuous monitoring in confined spaces
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) during testing

MODULE 4: WORK PERMIT & SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

  • Role of AGT in the permit-to-work system
  • Hazard identification, risk assessment, and control measures
  • Purging & Ventilation requirements
  • Requirement of breathing apparatus
  • Communication and reporting of test results

MODULE 5: EMERGENCY RESPONSE & INCIDENT HANDLING

  • Recognizing dangerous conditions and responding appropriately
  • Nominating fire watcher(s) to raise the alarm and initiate emergency response
  • Evacuation procedures in case of gas leaks or high exposure levels
  • First aid and rescue procedures related to gas exposure
